Pharmacy FAQ & Safety Guidelines

Getting In Touch

What's the best way to reach CheapoMeds?

You'll find our contact details at the bottom of this page, or you can head over to our contact us page.

Is there an email address I can use to send my questions?

Absolutely — reach our team at info@cheapomeds.com. Your message will be routed to whoever is best equipped to help. We genuinely value patient feedback, since it helps us keep improving our products, policies, and processes.

How quickly can I expect a reply to an email or fax?

Fast, reliable service is something we take seriously. Most emails get a reply within 24 hours, and faxes are handled throughout normal business hours. Response times may run a little longer around national or civic holidays.

Placing An Order

Will I need a prescription?

In most cases, yes — a valid prescription from a licensed physician is required for any prescription product, whether you live in the USA or elsewhere. This mirrors exactly what you'd need at a local pharmacy counter.

A valid prescription needs to include:

  • your doctor's name and contact details
  • the drug name, strength, quantity, and usage directions
  • your doctor's signature

Keep in mind: an unfilled prescription remains valid for six months from the date it was written.

What's the process for sending my prescription?

You can submit a copy through our website by uploading your document , or send it via email, fax, or regular mail. Note that even after submitting a digital copy, you'll still need to mail the original to us.

Prefer not to deal with the paperwork? Our pharmacy can reach out to your physician's office directly to request a new prescription on your behalf — just let us know and we'll take care of it.

Can I talk to a pharmacist about my medications?

Definitely — free consultations with our licensed Canadian pharmacists are available.

Our pharmacists can be reached Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm (CT).

Can you write me a prescription over the phone?

We're not able to offer that service. A prescription needs to come from your own medical provider — though we're happy to contact them for you to help obtain a valid one. Once it's in hand, we can move forward with your order.

What's the largest supply you can ship at one time?

For shipments to the United States, we're limited to a 3-month supply per prescription. Need more later on? We can process refills once they're due.

Customers outside the USA may qualify for larger volumes — up to a full year's supply in some cases — though we'll first need to confirm the expiry date on that lot to make sure it'll last. Reach out to us for specifics.

None of my five medications show up in your catalog — can you still get them for me?

If a medication isn't currently listed, we'll add it to our Unavailable Drug List and check with our pharmacy partners to see if it can be sourced. We'll follow up if it becomes available. In general, we stock most brand-name and generic drugs.

One exception: we never ship or sell controlled substances or narcotics.

Do you bill my insurance provider?

No — we don't work directly with insurers, so payment is out-of-pocket at checkout. It's worth checking with your insurance company to see whether they'll reimburse purchases made through us.

How does price matching work?

We'll match prescription prices from companies approved by CIPA (the Canadian International Pharmacy Association).

To be eligible, the product must be identical, in stock, ready to ship, and require a prescription — matching drug name, strength, manufacturer, country of origin, and dispensary.

The competitor's shipping cost gets folded into the total price used for comparison, and price-matched items can't be combined with other discounts or coupons.

For the full details, see our Price Match Policy or give us a call.

How do promo codes get applied?

Codes from our emails or promotional calendar can be entered directly during online checkout. Ordering by phone instead? Just mention the code to our patient service team and we'll apply it manually. All codes expire on the date listed.

Why does account creation ask for my height and weight?

These details directly influence dosing, so it's important that what you enter is accurate.

Do you fill prescriptions for pets?

We can, as long as there's a valid prescription on file.

Can my order skip the child-resistant packaging?

Pharmacy regulations generally require child-resistant containers where applicable. If you'd like your medication shipped without one, contact us and we'll include an authorization form with your next shipment.

What payment options do you accept?

We accept American Express, electronic debit from a checking account, and check or money order by mail. Wire transfers are also possible, though additional fees may apply — reach out and we can walk you through it.

Why can't I pay with Mastercard or Visa?

These cards come with strict U.S. compliance requirements for online pharmacies, along with higher transaction fees and fraud exposure — all of which make it harder for us to stay efficient and keep prices low. Full details are in our article here.

Company Policies

How does CheapoMeds handle my privacy?

Protecting your personal information is something we take very seriously. We aim to meet — or exceed — the standards set out in Canada's Privacy Act, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), which governs how we can collect, use, and share personal data. More information is available on our policy page.

What's your return policy?

You have 90 days from the ship date to return medications for a full refund. Returns are accepted when a dispensing error was made on our end, or when damage or shipping problems affected your order.

To start a return, call our toll-free line for return instructions and to arrange reimbursement of your shipping cost (up to $12.95 USD).

Once your items arrive back at the original dispensary, a full credit will be applied to your account.

What's your approach to shipping?

Every order ships with tracked delivery at our standard tracked-shipping rate, so customers can follow their package the whole way.

How do you handle medication recalls?

As soon as a recall notice comes in, we check whether our current inventory is affected. We then review purchases from the past three months (or whatever window the recall specifies) to see if any action is needed. Incoming lot numbers and expiry dates are cross-checked against the recall so only unaffected stock is received, and any recalled product is quarantined or returned per the notice's instructions.

When Health Canada or a manufacturer flags a recall, we compile a list of patients who may have received the affected product and attempt to reach each one by phone. If several call attempts go unanswered, we'll follow up by email instead.

If you've already received an affected product, we'll reach out with instructions for returning it, and our pharmacy team is available for any related counseling.

Do you carry products containing pseudoephedrine?

No, we don't offer any pseudoephedrine-containing products.

What about narcotics or controlled substances?

We don't carry any products containing narcotics or other controlled medications.

Where can I read your terms of sale?

Check out our terms of sale page for the full details.

If I order several medications together, will they arrive in one shipment?

We can absolutely process multi-product orders. If your medications come from different dispensaries or countries, expect separate shipments; items from the same dispensary will travel together.

Is CheapoMeds.com itself a pharmacy?

Not exactly — CheapoMeds is a leading platform connecting patients to online prescription medications worldwide. We work closely with our Canadian pharmacy partner, along with licensed pharmacies in New Zealand, Australia, and the UK, to help customers find safe, high-quality, affordable medications.

Is CheapoMeds one of Canada's top accredited pharmacies?

CheapoMeds is fully licensed in Canada, with specific authorization to sell medications internationally. We're proud to partner with one of Canada's most highly accredited pharmacies, which helps us maintain top-tier quality and safety standards.

About Our Products

Why do some Canadian medications go by different names?

Manufacturers often register a different brand name for the same drug in each country they sell it in. The medicinal ingredient stays identical even though the trade name changes — for instance, Farxiga in the U.S. is sold as Forxiga in Canada, and Zetia in the U.S. becomes Ezetrol in Canada.

Is every Canadian drug cheaper than in the US?

Most Canadian medications do cost less than their US counterparts, but that's not true across the board.

What exactly is a generic medication?

Generics share the same active ingredients and strength as the branded version, though they may look different in shape, color, size, markings, or inactive fillers. We carefully vet the generics we offer to ensure top quality — choosing generic isn't a downgrade, it's simply a way to save money on a product with the same therapeutic effect. In fact, many of our generics have become more popular with customers than the brand-name equivalent. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to know more.

Generic vs. brand name — what's actually different?

Therapeutically, they're equivalent — same active ingredients, same concentrations. The differences are cosmetic: color, size, shape, and non-active fillers.

What is a parallel-imported medication?

These are genuine brand-name medicines originally sold into one country that get purchased by wholesalers and resold into another — say, from a lower-cost market into the UK. Because pricing varies by country, a wholesaler might buy a product cheaply elsewhere and bring it into the UK market. For example, an Italian-labelled product could be imported into the UK, where regulations require it to be relabelled in English. Since that relabelling process is tightly controlled, you may notice both the original foreign- language label and an English relabel on the same package.

Why isn't Neurontin (gabapentin), Vicodin, or similar drugs available through CheapoMeds?

We steer clear of anything classified as a controlled substance or narcotic, along with medications known to carry a risk of abuse.

Does Canada carry every medication?

Not every single medication comes from our Canadian pharmacy, though most do. Looking for something specific? Give us a call and one of our Patient Service Representatives will confirm whether we carry it.

Why does my medication look different from what I usually get locally?

Patent laws and regulations vary by country, so the same drug can differ in size, shape, color, or markings depending on where it's made. If something looks off compared to what you're used to, give us a call — our Patient Service team is happy to answer any questions.

Where do your medications actually come from?

Patient safety comes first, which is why we source only from Canada, the UK, the European Economic Area, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand — all regions with strong regulatory oversight and Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) compliance, giving us confidence in our dispensary partners' quality standards.

Will I always find a lower price with you?

Our pricing is competitive, but occasionally a local pharmacy might beat it — prices shift by state, country, and even individual pharmacy. Ordering through us gets you quality medication at a fair price without the legwork of shopping around. Many customers actually mix and match, ordering some medications locally and others through us. Every situation is different, so ask our team for a price quote any time.

Do any of your medications come from India?

India produces more generic medication than any other country in the world, and a large share of what's sold in the US and Canada is manufactured there — Indian pharmaceutical companies alone supply over 40% of US generic demand. Products exported from India meet the regulatory standards of the US, UK, EU, and Canada, and well-known manufacturers like Sun Pharma, Dr. Reddy's, and Cipla are recognized worldwide. We work with our trusted, long-standing dispensary partners to source quality medications, some of which may originate in India, always keeping patient safety and product quality front and center.

Can you ship any prescription drug I need?

We don't carry absolutely everything available worldwide, but our catalog covers most generic and brand-name prescription medications.

We also never ship or sell controlled substances or narcotics.

Why don't my pills match what I get at my local pharmacy?

Because of differing regulations and patent laws, the same medication can look different depending on its country of origin — size, shape, and color can all vary. If you have any concerns about what you've received, reach out and our pharmacists will be glad to help.

Do your dispensary partners source products internationally?

Yes — we partner with licensed pharmacies across Canada, the USA, the United Kingdom, Australia, Mauritius, and New Zealand.

Where are your government-approved dispensaries based?

Our dispensary network spans Canada, the US, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Mauritius, and Australia.

Where can I read reviews from other CheapoMeds customers?

Customer reviews and testimonials are posted right on our site — a great way to see what others have experienced with us. https://www.cheapomeds.com/reviews

Note: we can't guarantee cancellation once an order is already submitted.

What if I simply change my mind?

You can cancel any time before shipment. Just call 1-844-424-3276 and a patient service representative will take care of it.

I received the wrong prescription or dosage — now what?

Call our toll-free line right away at 1-844-424-3276. After we look into it, we may arrange a free reshipment or issue a refund. If the error was on our end, we'll take full responsibility.

What's your return policy?

To start a return, call our toll-free number for return instructions and to be reimbursed for shipping (up to $12.95 USD).

How do I check on the status of my return or cancellation?

Reach out to our patient service team by phone or through our website, and we'll give you a status update.

Do returns or cancellations come with a fee?

Not for damaged or incorrect items — those are handled at no cost, since your satisfaction matters most to us. Exact return windows and refund timelines can vary, so it's always worth checking our website or contacting a patient service representative for the latest details.

Refer & Earn

How does the referral program work?

Invite friends, family, anyone you like! Once they sign up, they're linked to your account as a referral, and every order they place earns you a 5% credit automatically.

If your referrals go on to refer their own contacts, you'll earn an extra 2.5% cashback on those orders too.

Want the full breakdown? Give us a call and we'll walk you through it!

Can my pet count as a referral?

As much as we love pets, they don't qualify for the Referral Rewards Program.

Can referral credits be put toward a purchase?

Yes, in most cases your referral credit can be applied directly to an order — we want getting your medications to be as easy as possible.

Can I cash out my referral credits?

Referral credits can only go toward orders with us — they can't be withdrawn directly. With your authorization, though, they can be transferred to a family member's account.

Are there limits on who I can refer?

Refer friends, family, or anyone interested in ordering from our Canadian pharmacy — there's generally no restriction on who qualifies.

How do I know if my referral went through?

Call our toll-free number 1-844-424-3276 and a patient service representative can confirm whether your credit was applied after your referral completes an order.

Is there a cap on how many people I can refer?

Nope — refer as many people as you'd like and keep racking up referral credits.

How do I get friends and family signed up?

After your own first order, they can place theirs either online or by calling 1-800-CAN-DRUG (226-3784). They'll just need to provide their name plus one of the following — phone number, mailing address, or email — for the person who referred them (that's you!). Your referral savings kick in starting with their very first order.

Can my earnings be mailed to me as a check?

Yes — once your balance reaches $50 or more, you can request a mailed check. A $10 Cash Out Fee applies to cover administrative, printing, and mailing costs, and monthly cash payouts are capped at $500 USD.

Is there a limit to how much I can earn?

The more people you bring in, the more you earn — every friend or family member who joins CheapoMeds adds to your rewards. Note that monthly cash payouts top out at $500 USD.

Is there a fee to cash out my earnings?

A $10 service fee applies when your referral earnings are paid out by check, covering the administrative work involved. Using your rewards as account credit, however, costs nothing.

Can I move my referral earnings to someone else's account?

Yes — we can transfer your earnings balance to another person's account with us upon request.

Security & Privacy

How seriously does CheapoMeds take patient privacy?

Very seriously — protecting your information is one of our top priorities. We rely on strong security safeguards and strict privacy practices to keep your shopping experience safe, and we hold ourselves to the standards set by Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. You can read more on our Privacy Policy page.

Is it safe to enter my credit card details?

Yes — our platform is built to protect your payment information, and card networks add their own layers of encryption and fraud monitoring on top.

What kind of security protects transactions on CheapoMeds.com?

We rely on industry-standard protections — including encryption and secure payment gateways — to keep your payment data safe during checkout.

Is my medical information kept confidential?

Yes — medical records and personal details are held in strict confidence and never shared without your consent.

How is my privacy protected when a prescription order is processed?

Prescription orders are handled carefully with confidentiality in mind, and all packages ship discreetly.

Delivery & Order Tracking

What's the tariff compliance fee for?

This fee covers the software we use to manage tariffs and calculate duties based on your shipment's contents. It supports tariff management, duty and tax calculations, and compliance for shipments arriving from anywhere — Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and beyond. Even when the tariff itself is 0%, this fee still applies, since it's separate from any tax or tariff. Questions? Reach out to our customer service team.

How long does delivery typically take?

Standard mail delivery usually takes 14 to 28 days once your order ships, while express shipping from Canada typically arrives in 8-10 days.

Please note: delivery can occasionally run longer due to factors outside our control. We recommend ordering about 8 weeks before you expect to run out of medication.

Will I be charged any extra fees?

A tracked shipping fee applies to every order, and international or expedited shipping comes with its own charges — all of which we'll clearly outline before you confirm your order.

Do you ship from Canada into the US?

Yes — our Canadian pharmacy ships to the United States, so you can get the medications you need without a hassle.

Do you ship anywhere besides the US?

We can ship internationally in most cases, with some restrictions. Contact us to confirm whether we're able to deliver to your country.

What happens if my order never arrives?

If your order doesn't arrive within our current reshipment guarantee window, we'll send a replacement. Just contact us to arrange it — reshipments are free of charge, though if both packages happen to show up and you keep them, you'll be billed for both.

How much does shipping cost?

Every order ships with tracked service, priced as shown at checkout, so you can follow your package the whole way through. For expedited or international shipping quotes, reach out to a Patient Service Representative.

How do I track my package?

Once your order ships, you'll get an email with a tracking number and link. You're also welcome to contact us directly for the latest tracking status.

Can I get overnight or 2-day shipping?

Not currently — orders pass through customs, which can add a few days, and that process is outside our control. The fastest option we currently offer is Expedited delivery from Canada via Canada Post.

Which carrier delivers my order?

Orders start with the dispensary's local postal service, then hand off to USPS for final delivery once they reach the US — this applies whether or not tracked or expedited shipping was added.

What's the typical shipping window?

Standard shipping averages 14-28 days, while expedited orders from Canada usually arrive in 8-10 business days. We work closely with our shipping and logistics partners to keep delivery within 28 days whenever possible.

Can my shipping address be changed after ordering?

For accurate, secure delivery, contact a patient service representative as soon as possible if your address needs updating. Reach us toll-free at 1-844-424-3276.

What should I do about a shipping delay or issue?

Contact our patient service team at 1-844-424-3276 and we'll help sort out any concerns.

US Tariff Information

What decides the tariff applied to my order?

Tariffs are based on the country where the medication was manufactured — not where it ships from or to — and follow current US policy for that country. Full details are at https://www.cheapomeds.com/faq.

Can tariffs be discounted or offset?

No — our policy doesn't allow for offsetting or discounting tariff charges. The amount is calculated based strictly on country of manufacture.

What are the current tariff rates by manufacturing country?

Sample current rates by country of manufacture (subject to change with policy updates):

  • India (IN): 50% (includes the added penalty the US currently applies over India's purchases of Russian oil)
  • Switzerland (CH): 39%
  • Canada (CA): 35%
  • European Union (EU): 15%
  • Israel (IL): 15%
  • New Zealand (NZ): 15%
  • Turkey (TR): 15%
  • United Kingdom (GB): 10%
  • United States (US): 0%

At checkout, the tariff appears as a line-item amount representing a percentage of the product's value.

How are these fees displayed at checkout?

You'll see an itemized breakdown covering:

  • Medication price
  • Tariff based on country of manufacture (shown as an amount representing a percentage of product value)
  • Other standard charges (e.g., shipping)

The total due is shown clearly before you place your order.

Can you walk me through an example?

Example 1: A medication shipped from and manufactured in Canada

  • Tariff amount: shown as roughly 35% of the product's value
  • Shipping: bundled into the standard shipping fee
  • Total at checkout: product price + tariff amount + shipping

Example 2: A medication shipped from the UK but manufactured in India

  • Country of manufacture: India
  • Tariff amount: shown as roughly 50% of the product's value
  • Shipping: bundled into the standard shipping fee
  • Total at checkout: product price + tariff amount + shipping

How is country of manufacture determined?

It's simply the country where the medication was physically produced. Even if a drug is sourced through a dispensary in another country, the applicable tariff is based on where it was actually manufactured, per our policy and applicable regulatory rules.

Is the tariff rate the same across every medication from a given country?

Generally yes, tariff rates are fixed per country of manufacture, though they're subject to regulatory updates. Certain medications may fall into different classifications under applicable law, so rates can occasionally vary by category.

How will I find out about rate changes?

We post updates whenever tariff information changes and reflect any material updates in checkout notices, medication pages, and on our tariff explainer at https://www.cheapomeds.com/faq.

Does every shipment get charged a tariff?

Tariffs apply specifically to imported medications shipped to the United States, based on country of manufacture. The standard shipping fee, on the other hand, applies to every order regardless of destination.

Are any exemptions or waivers available?

Currently, tariffs are fixed by country of manufacture with no offsets available. Should exemptions or policy changes arise, we'll clearly communicate them at checkout and on our FAQ page.

Ordering From A Canadian Pharmacy

Is it legal to buy prescriptions from Canada?

It depends on where you live and how the order is placed:

  • In the US, importing prescription drugs for personal use is technically limited, though enforcement is generally focused on bulk shipments or controlled substances.
  • Canadian pharmacies require a valid prescription from a licensed provider.
  • It's always best to check with your doctor and confirm your local rules before ordering.

Tip: Stick to licensed Canadian pharmacies that actually verify prescriptions.

What are the safest practices for ordering online?

A few things worth checking:

  • Choose licensed pharmacies with visible provincial or national certification.
  • Always submit a valid prescription from a doctor.
  • Confirm the site uses HTTPS and secure payment processing.
  • Look for transparent shipping, privacy, and return policies.
  • Check independent, verified customer reviews before ordering.

How does international pharmacy shipping actually work?

  • Pharmacies package orders according to the destination country's customs regulations.
  • Delivery time varies by courier and customs processing, typically 1–3 weeks for standard shipping.
  • Wherever possible, use the tracking number provided to follow your shipment.
  • Some medications require special handling or temperature control in transit.

Tip: Check your country's customs and import rules ahead of time to avoid delays.

How can I verify a Canadian online pharmacy is legitimate?

  • Confirm provincial licensing or verification through an official regulatory body.
  • Check independent review sites like Trustpilot for verified customer feedback.
  • Make sure the pharmacy actually requires a valid prescription.
  • Steer clear of sites promising "no prescription needed" or "guaranteed cheapest price."

What red flags should I watch for?

  • Unlicensed or offshore pharmacies that claim to be Canadian without actual regulatory oversight.
  • Sites that don't ask for a prescription at all.
  • Payment methods that aren't secure.
  • Over-the-top promises like "fastest delivery guaranteed worldwide."

Sticking with verified, licensed pharmacies is always the safest route.
